Notice To Members
Payment of 2011/2012 membership subscriptions by the Annual General Meeting is necessary for membership of the Club and for voting rights. Please ensure that you are a financial member of the Club prior to the AGM.
Membership payments are now online. As you would have read in the Lorne Mower it is a very simple process, with all the details at www.lornesurfclub.com.au/Content/MembersHome/AccountPayment
For new members – all members over the age of 18 require a Working With Children’s Check to be completed prior to having their keytag being reactivated. These forms are available at any Post Office or through the Club. Once you have the WWCC number, please advise Tina via email at club_administrator@lornesurfclub.com.au.

Please note that nominations for President and Vice President require four nominators. All other positions require two nominators. Proxy votes will not be accepted.

- Duties of Office Bearers
SECRETARY shall be responsible for the general routine administration of the Association and all other duties appertaining to that of Secretary. He/she shall keep all minutes and conduct the correspondences of the Association. He/she shall be responsible for all communications in the way correspondence and notices to the Members. The Secretary or his/her assistants shall be ex-officio members of all sub-committees appointed by the Committee.
ASSISTANT SECRETARY shall act under the direction and instruction of the Secretary and during the absence of the Secretary shall act in his/her stead in carrying out the Secretary’s duties.
TREASURER shall receive and bank all monies received for or on behalf of the Association and shall issue receipts on the official form. All expenditure shall be authorised by the Committee and payments made by cheque, or such other electronic means, or debiting arrangements, that may be appropriate from time to time, provided always that the requirements of Rule 28 are met insofar as all withdrawal and disbursement authorities shall be signed by two members of the Committee. He/she shall keep the prescribed books of account and shall submit a summarised statement at each Committee Meeting or the calendar month immediately preceding such meeting together with the Pass Book and a reconciliation of the balance shown therein with the Cash Book. He/she shall annually prepare an Income and Expenditure Account for such financial year together with a Balance Sheet setting out the Association’s assets and liabilities, the foregoing statements to be presented to the Members at the Annual General Meeting together with Annual Report.
ASSOCIATION CAPTAIN shall act as Chairman of the Selection Committee and arrange all selections for inter-club competitions and submit same to Secretary for posting on Notice Board and forwarding to S.L.S.A. He/she shall have jurisdiction over all Members in all activities. Prior to the commencement of each season, he/she shall submit to the Committee for approval a schedule of patrols and their Captains, together with a roster of patrol duties for the ensuring season. He/she shall act as timekeeper for and record Members test swims, and be responsible for the efficiency of the patrols, keep a record of attendance thereat and of all life saving work performed by Members. His/her report for the preceding month must be submitted in writing at each meeting of the Committee.
ASSOCIATION VICE-CAPTAIN shall act under the direction and instruction of the Association Captain and during his/her absence shall act in his/her stead. He/she shall be responsible for the care and maintenance of all life saving gear (except the surfboat) and shall be assisted by the Gear Stewards and Assistant.
REGISTRAR shall keep a record of all Members and their performances at inter and intra-Association competitions and patrol duties. He/she will enter in the record book all necessary matters recorded the minutes. These records to be available to all executive officers and at all meetings of the Committee. He/she is responsible for the safe custody of these records. Members may inspect these records upon stating sufficient reason.
CHIEF INSTRUCTOR shall arrange for all classes of instruction for Members to qualify and report in writing each month to the Committee the results of examinations and all other matters pertaining to his/her office. To be eligible to stand for this office he/she must hold the Instructor’s Certificate.
SELECTORS shall submit to the Secretary for posting on the Notice Board a list of their selections, and may change such list at their discretion. It will be the duty of the selectors to endeavour to include all Members in Competition Teams in rotation, so as to inspire confidence and increase efficiency. The Swimming Selectors shall in conjunction with the Race Secretary act as a Committee for the control of all intra-Association competitions and submit all matters in connection therewith to the Management Committee for confirmation. All decisions pertaining to selection by either the Swimming or Boat Selectors shall be final.
BOAT CAPTAIN shall be responsible for the maintenance and care of the Association’s surf life saving boat and necessary equipment and shall at all times act under the direction of the Association Captain. He/she shall coach and arrange instruction for suitable members for boat crews. He/she shall familiarise all Members with the use of the Surf Boat and equipment. He/she shall make a report in writing to each Committee Meeting upon the condition of the Surf Life Saving Boat and Gear.
BOAT VICE-CAPTAIN shall act under the direction and inspection of the Boat Captain and in his/her absence shall act in his/her stead.
GEAR STEWARD shall act under the instructions of the Association Captain and Association Vice-Captain. The Gear Steward shall furnish a written report each month to the Committee on the condition of all life saving and carnival gear (excepting the life saving boat). He/she shall arrange for the transport of gear (other than the surf life saving boats) to and from carnivals and the care thereof while on Association premises or elsewhere.
RACE SECRETARY shall be responsible for the organisation and conduct of all intra-club competitions in conjunction with Handicapper. He/she will be responsible for compiling particulars for all Point Scores, etc, in conjunction with Registrar. His/her report for the preceding month and programme for the forthcoming month must be submitted in writing at each meeting of the Committee.
HANDICAPPER elected and act in conjunction with Race Secretary.
ASSISTANT TREASURER shall act under direction and instruction of the Treasurer.
ASSISTANT CHIEF INSTRUCTOR shall act under the direction and instruction of the Chief Instructor.
BOARD AND SKI CAPTAIN shall be responsible for the general administration and conduct of competition and all matters appertaining to Surf Boards and Surf Skis activity. He/she shall submit a report in writing to the Committee of the previous month’s activities.
PUBLICITY OFFICER shall be responsible for all matters pertaining to Association Publicity.
R&R CAPTAIN shall be responsible for coaching all R&R teams and selection of Members thereof.
JUNIOR CAPTAIN shall act under the instruction or the Association Captain and Association Vice Captain. He/she shall be responsible for all Junior and Cadet Members, co-ordination of all activities, transport and any other functions including the integration of Junior and Cadet Members into the Club.
RADIO OFFICER shall be responsible for the maintenance and care of all the radio equipment and at all times act under the direction of the Association Captain. He/she shall coach and arrange instruction in conjunction with the Chief Instructor for Members to obtain their Radio Awards. He/she shall familiarise all Club Members with the procedures of radio operations. He/she shall make a report in writing to each Committee Meeting upon the condition of the radio equipment.
POWER CRAFT CAPTAIN shall be responsible for the maintenance and care of the Club’s surf life saving power craft and necessary equipment and at all times act under the direction of the Association Captain. He/she shall coach and arrange instruction in conjunction with the Chief Instructor for Members to obtain their Power Craft Awards. He/she shall familiarise all Members with the procedures of the power craft. He/she shall make a report in writing to each Committee Meeting upon the condition of the surf life saving power craft and associated gear.
WATER AREA CAPTAIN shall be responsible for the general administration and conduct of competition and all matters pertaining to swimming events and shall report in writing to the Committee of the previous month’s activities in the Water Area.
FEMALE CO-ORDINATOR shall be responsible for the integration of females into the Association and shall act under the direction of the Association Captain.
